I knew from the moment our engagement session started in February that Joe & Sam’s wedding was going to be a tear-filled day — not just their eyes, but mine too. I’m a total softie when it comes to love. It’s what drew me into this industry in the first place. And these two? They radiate it. The way they look at each other… you can feel the connection. From the rain stopping just in time for the ceremony to their flower-filled exit, their day was packed with emotion, laughter, and so much love.

Before Joe & Sam said “I do,” there were a few special moments around the gardens that deserve attention. The morning started at a local Airbnb where Sam and her girls got ready — picture a dining table in beautiful chaos, makeup everywhere, and the room echoing with laughter. From there, we headed to Stan Hywet, where Sam stepped into her wedding dress. Pretty sure some moisture got on my camera… but it definitely wasn’t from my eyes. 😉 She was absolutely stunning in her Dave & Johnny gown (found at The Winner in Sharon, PA).

Soon it was time for Sam’s dad to see her. His face said everything — the sweetest reaction that even Sam’s mom got to witness. After that moment, it was time for Joe & Sam’s first touch. These are always a little tricky — you want the couple to share something intimate without accidentally seeing each other. They exchanged gifts and read their private vows, and let’s just say I ran out of tissues halfway through. Each word felt sacred and so them.

Right after their first touch… the rain stopped. The girls waited off to the side of the ceremony space, while Joe and his guys welcomed guests. Sam and her dad were so sweet as they waited for their cue — and then she made her entrance. A grand stairwell, the sun bursting through the clouds, and Joe’s eyes full of tears. Their ceremony was beautiful, and even more meaningful because Sam’s grandfather was one of the officiants. Guests even got to sing a hymn chosen by Joe & Sam, making it feel so personal and full of heart.

Afterward, we had just enough time to explore the gardens for portraits. If you’ve never been to Stan Hywet — go. Between the sweeping footpaths and Birch Tree Lane, it’s straight out of a dream.

The reception took place back in Howland at the First Baptist Church. Joe & Sam’s greeting wall — a collection of mirrors with the seating chart — was so fun and cozy. The chandelier, candlelit tables, and soft lighting made the space feel intimate and romantic. Some of my favorite reception details? The cheesecake bar (yes please), the honey favors, and the food — shoutout to Mission BBQ! After their first dance, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room (again!). We ended the evening with the most magical petal toss as Joe & Sam ran toward their getaway car — the perfect ending to such a heartfelt day.

The day couldn’t have happened without this amazing team of vendors:
